Dear Motorcycle diary….

Uncategorized

19 Aug

I took you to the coast today.

Or rather, you took me.

We are separate, but one.

Together, we ventured to the edge of the sea.

Blog - Dear Motorcycle diary

We did our familiar tango as we danced through all the bends.  It is my favourite dance with you. We know each other so well now.  We have done this dance so many times. You always let me lead, and you graciously follow.  Never out stepping me.  Our egos are never present in our dance together.

The perfect partner.

The trees and sun did their own morse code. Dots and dashes of shade and light were waiting for me with every long stretch of road.  Familiar language this time of day. The dull shadow of the trees made the sudden burst of sunlight more brilliant – its maker blinding me as it reached for its bed on the horizon.

The sweet and enduring aromas of the sea were once again in stark contrast to sudden and savoury bursts of its inland cousin. The absence of fog gave view to the ocean’s soul – an unending storybook of triumphs and sorrow.

Turning inland, I was welcomed with a sweet reminder of my youth – the scent of simmering coals. A cozy and familiar fragrance of days gone by. It brought a smile to my already smiling face.

Another timeless gift to be cherished.

The sun quickly hid its brilliance. A thin yet expanding layer of clouds dominated the sky. A blatant attempt to show off their pinkish grey and new lavender colours. The clouds were growing angry, threatening to pull the sting of the heat I have been familiar with lately.  It made me shiver. It was only for a moment. Just long enough to shake the sudden chill in my bones lose.

A darkening sky reminded of us our curfew.  Our day light coming to an end.

Another ride for my bank of memories. Growing in value with every sunset.

Its worth known only to me.

Time is suspended.

An eternity neatly packaged in 100kms.

My heart and mind forever grateful.

How lucky am I.

How lucky are we.

With gratitude,
